Exciting changes for Thiess Rehabilitation in 2024

14 February 2024

Thiess Rehabilitation is excited to announce a new leadership team as it expands its presence in North America.

Former Brisbane-based Thiess Rehabilitation Group Manager James Anderson, now Manager – Reclamation, Thiess North America, has moved to Salt Lake City to lead the Thiess reclamation and environmental services offering, and Jonathan Miln has taken over the Thiess Rehabilitation Group Manager role in Brisbane.

“It’s an exciting time for Thiess North America as we expand our focus on the rapidly evolving reclamation and environmental services space, and I look forward to meeting fellow mining and reclamation specialists,” said James.

As we let James settle in to the new role, we thought we’d get to know Jonathan, aka Jonny.

“Thiess has a fantastic track record in this space, and I’m energised by the opportunity to lead a team providing exceptional solutions not only for our clients but for mining and regional communities,” said Jonathan.

How long have you been with Thiess Rehabilitation?

I joined Thiess Rehabilitation in January 2024, but have been working with Thiess since 2018.

What’s an average day look like for you?

My day usually starts with a morning run, followed by the chaos of breakfast with the family and school drop-offs, and then I head into the office. My work day changes every day, but generally includes meetings with clients, site visits, and working with the team on business development and internal strategies, such as resourcing and employee engagement.

How has your role evolved?

Before taking on this role, my experience was predominantly operations based in technical and operational roles. More recently, I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with our clients to develop tailored mining services.

What’s the most rewarding / satisfying part of your job?

The chance to be part of a positive legacy.

How do you think the industry has changed / is changing?

The importance of and emphasis on quality rehabilitation and mine closure continues to gain increased social and regulatory focus. Thiess has a fantastic track record in this space, and I’m energised by the opportunity to lead a team providing exceptional solutions not only for our clients but for mining and regional communities.
